CITB01H3 Canadian Cities and Planning Winter 2019

Assignment I: Annotated Bibliography

Students are required to write an annotated bibliography of five (5) peer- reviewed journal articles. Start with an interesting article from Novae Res Urbis. Read through a few months of the newsletter and find an interesting issue or case. You will have to identify some broader keywords related to the article, something you can use for your library database search. It is quite unlikely that you will find an article specifically about the case or issue. You will have to do a broader search. You will practice this in the tutorials. We strongly advise to discuss your research topic/area with you TA well in advance of the assignment deadline.

Learning objective of the assignment:

• To develop library/database research skills

• To develop critical reading skills What is an annotated bibliography? An annotated bibliography gives an account of the research that has been done on a given topic. Like any bibliography, an annotated bibliography is an alphabetical list of research sources. In addition to bibliographic data, an annotated bibliography provides a concise summary of each source and some assessment of its value or relevance.
